Turning Point Some American values that seem to be lingering ease straight off are class shape and equality. It isnt quite the issue today as it was in the past, but it still seems to somehow run through our minds because everyone today is all about how much better they can be then the person sitting next to them. A few of these short stories truly exemplify the topic of class status and equality, mainly because these stories took fictional character in the history of the United States where these problems were HUGE. In Bright and break of day Star the narrator depicts how surreal the life of blacks was by illustrating the beatings they top over the simplest of things. The violence towards Sue and Johnny-Boy is appalling just because the dislike seems to be overflowing. The fact that it was just a lifestyle for whites to hitch blacks like another species with no purpose and meaning is still hard to fathom.

This piece really helps illustrate the indecency that was immutable during this time period due to these Jim Crow laws. It almost is disgusting and incredibly surreal to read and think about the penalisation blacks dealt with on a daily basis just because of their peel color. Equality, Freedom of Speech, thats what we are taught in our country these days, but why does it seem like racism still exists today? Maybe not to the extent that it was brought to confirm then, but it still seems to hold some kind of invariant grudge.
