Emmanuel Majekodunmi 5L An Inspector Calls John Boynton Priestley was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire, in the north of England. His father, Jonathan Priestley, was a prosperous schoolmaster, his mother died when he was an infant. Priestley attend Bradford Grammar School, but instead of going on to a university eruditeness he decided to leave education to pursue his erotic love for writing and literature. In 1910 Priestly got a job and worked as a junior clerk in a woolen firm. It was then that priestly began to write poetry for his own joyfulness and contribute articles to local and London papers. In the four old age he did this he gained a reputation as a very good journalist but in 1914 at the age of twenty Priestley was called to fight in the First ground War. An inspector calls was written in 1945, he wrote it in on the button a single week, the very week after the sanction World War finished. This showed the urgency that he wanted his substance to be heard. The tomboy, like some of his earlier work explores the sentiment of time, and how someones actions can affect someone elses life in the long run. Priestley hoped his play would create the effect of proactive superstar amongst the public giving society the chance to look acantha on what had transpired and learn from this. E.g.

The play is set in an industrial Midlands town in 1912, just before the First World War started. The play focuses close to the mysterious death of a poor young workings class girl called Eva Smith. I think that each nature in the play is a stereotypical representation of a certain social class and certain generation, they show the distinguishable attitudes that each class of person has.
