the underlying apprehension in this poem is the intertwined relationship between love and time, and in this poem, the test of love becomes the test of time,and her parents fail this test.

shows the forward motion from lively, marriage of vitality- double-dyed(a) love- or perhaps the lack of love.

presents old gay and women alone in bved
what awaits for them
strangely together, yet strangely apart
at the end, its a questioning of whether her parents know this.

Although one flesh can be perceived as a young woman seeing her parents drift apart, the key to this poem is the fact that it is tattle us the opinion of a daughter, maybe a juvenile one. When she perceives this she is not seeing the true emotion to whats happening because she is not experienced with true long lasting love they her parents are in . The poem tells us they hardly ever touch and that worth faces them but this love she sees thats grown cold is only in the physical sense.



The daughter cannot see the strong bond that the parents confine through life and experiences together that cannot be broken.
