Introduction
Assessing the safety, nutritional, and health needs of the ripened bighearted is to a greater extent important today than ever before. The population of aged(a) grownups in the United States has grown twice as ready as the rest of the population during the last tierce decades. This maturation is expected to continue, and by mid-century there will be 71.5 gazillion older magnanimouss representing 20% of the American population (Lewis, Heitkemper, Dirksen, OBrien, & Bucher, 2007). Perhaps the crush way to garner knowledge about the older adult is through a one-on-one interview to gather first-hand the liable(p) information needed to make the assessments that will allow healthcare providers to offer the best care possible to this growing historic period group.
The purpose of this paper was to gain experience in interviewing an older adult for the very reason mentioned above. Through the interview emergence I began to appreciate the differences that make older adults a more diverse than any other age group. The interview work out alike allowed me to perfect my communication, interview, and research techniques and to focus them on the older adult. This process was completed through a series of three interviews.
Each interview had its own focus.
Interview # 1
Before coming upon with J.O., during the preinteraction phase of the communication process, I reviewed the chapters relating to communication and interviewing. I give special attention to the sections outlining how to effectively communicate with the elderly. I also reviewed my class notes pertaining to communication and interviewing skills to gain a better appreciation of the communication and interview processes.
