I be possessed of based this lesson around the book Wombat Stew by Marica Vaughan. This text provides a great sequence of Australian animals and provides brilliant opportunities to upraise discussion within this age host. The book is vibrant and active and its sequence of events ties nicely with promoting discussions to achieve the outcomes.
The lesson begins with a unhurt group session to give students the opportunity to hear and view the text. Co-operative accomplishment strategies are then applied by grouping students in pairs for a think, pair, look at session. This provides an opportunity for the students to exchange ideas and information in a non-confronting way.



It also allows for each child to have a fair chance to speak and listen. After the children have interchange ideas they are prompted to conclude their discussion and return to a whole group to discuss the story map, allowing students to participate if they wish to.
By using the teaching approach of cooperative learning, through the think, pair, share strategy the children are provided with an opportunity to share and exchange their thoughts and ideas with children that they would non usually work with. It is a great tuning in activity as it ensures conceptual understanding for the child by prompting them to think, discuss and share their ideas.
