I would say this ad was very effective on marketing the slacks. The ad is effective because it portrays a military personnel enjoying each day regular life. The ad shows him barbequing, walking the dog, playing golf and lounging. The slacks come in a variety of colour with shirts to match. Theyre catch fire in weight and very low-priced. The ad is persuasive because it has reasoning, credibility and it draws to my emotions.
The slacks are very affordable in price and make believe outstanding qualities. By looking for at entirely the different activities the gentleman appears to be doing lets me hunch forward the slacks are comfortable. Also the slacks are light in weight for the spring and summer months. All of these examples appeal to reasoning.
Using the image of an average man makes the ad have credibility. Because men are normally the authority figures, the image could wreak my father or husband. The gentlemans image alike exudes confidence and style which shows his character.
Because the ad shows the man nicely change this stirs my desire of excitement to purchase the slacks for my husband.
Seeing the gentleman lounging, taking pictures and grilling makes me imagine my own husband wearing those clothes doing some of the same activities. The ad use spoken communication like the freedom, rich lasting colors and attractive shades. I immediately think about the summertime and all the fun things I will do.
In conclusion, overall the Pendletons ad of the 1950s was very effective in selling their slacks. The ad had credibility, reasoning and it appealed to my emotions. Because the advertisement, in my opinion was successful I predict their company in the future will be successful if they continue to produce effective advertisements.
