An Inescapable Tie to tender-heartedity
Human emotions connect the characters in Nathaniel Hawthornes The Scarlet Letter to apiece otherwise whether they be linked by love or hate. These ties are what make us human. Our natural instinct is to love, but each and everyone of us has hate and sin within them. With this, we find the impudent moral blossom (42) to be that although life is hard, we get finished it by loving others, hating enemies and learning what others teach us. We learn to make out by learning to love.
In nature there is keen and bad. The wild rose bush with its delicate gems (41) and the unsightly plant life (41) show us that with every immoral aspect comes a moral side. Hester Prynne and Arthur Dimmesdale are victims to sin. Dimmesdale, being a reverend, and Hester, being a married embroider, commit adultery together. Although this was an act of sin, the good function that came out of this was free fall. Dimmesdale beats himself up mentally, emotionally, and physically. It is inconceivable, the agony with which this national veneration tortured him! (119) The A on Hesters chest is seen by all, but Hawthorne is suggesting that within everyone, there is an A burning on everyones hearts.
