The first day at the soup kitchen was very over whelming considering it was a whole wise environment for me. While serving at the soup kitchen, I had made a distinct observation that a bulk of the people who came to the soup kitchen were minorities. I noticed that many were unrelenting and Latino, and a very few were white. There were also near Jews and Hispanics. From this observation, I remembered that earlier in the course, I did an article from the wise York Times on homeless people. One key statistic in this article stated that 90% of the homeless population in New York City is Black or Latino, although 53% of the overall population is Black or Latino.1 It was very amazing that I had seen these statistics be actually true right here in Brooklyn.
One of the reasons these numbers are significantly high is these minorities are organism deprived of proper education compared to a control group known as Whites. The white communities most New York receive adequate funding in schools, while the schools around the projects simply do not. The better teachers are always share of the community in best economic standings. This is where these minorities are being marginalized. They are being marginalized because of where they are financial support, even if they are living comfortably, they still remain oppressed in their marginal status.
